Aqua Texas is One Step Closer to Higher Rates!

adminSeptember 24, 2025September 24, 2025

Fair Water Texas is issuing this URGENT alert to Intervenors and concerned ratepayers across Texas.

On September 24, 2025, lawyers for the Public Utility Commission filed a formal memo declaring Aqua Texas’s application in Docket No. 58124 administratively complete.

What This Means:
Aqua Texas has cleared a key procedural hurdle in its attempt to raise rates. Staff’s memo confirms that Aqua Texas’ application to raise rates meets filing requirements. The Staff lawyers recommended that the Judge require Aqua Texas to send a new notice directly to all the customers for which it has email addresses.

Why This Demands Immediate Action:
This filing signals that Aqua Texas’ proposal is officially moving forward and that they will implement new rates soon, possibly in December. Once customer notice is issued, the window for public response will be limited, and the strength of your opposition will depend on how many protestors and Intervenors step forward.

We Need You to Mobilize:
Since you are already an Intervenor, now is the time to recruit neighbors, homeowners, and ratepayers in your area to join the protest. Every additional voice increases pressure and visibility.
→ Share this update. Knock on doors. Forward this email.
→ Direct new protestors to fairwatertexas.org for guidance about what is going on
→ Ask them to fill out this form that creates Protestor or Intervenor status for them.

Next Steps:
Fair Water Texas will continue monitoring the docket and will notify you immediately when Aqua issues customer notice. We are preparing outreach materials and action guides to support rapid response.

Together, we can ensure that Aqua’s proposals receive the scrutiny they deserve—and that communities across Texas have a real voice in the outcome.

This seemed unlikely a few weeks ago. Now it is going ahead without even a notice. One has to wonder how this could happen! It appears a lot of regulators had a very quick and total change of mind. Did they also have a quick change of financial condition, I wonder? Aqua is a very sleazy outfit. I fear some heavy cash changed hands here. Guess what? We are back on boil notice for our water yet again. A coincidence, I suppose.
