Intervenors

Congratulations!

You’ve taken a bold and important step—you’re now officially recognized as an intervenor in a Public Utility Commission (PUC) proceeding. That means your voice matters, your perspective is part of the record, and your participation can shape the outcome of decisions that affect your water system, your rates, and your community.

This is more than a title. It’s a responsibility.

What It Means to Be an Intervenor

As an intervenor, you now hold full party status in the case. That gives you powerful rights:

  • You can submit evidence and testimony
  • You can request Discovery from a Utility and PUC Staff
  • You can cross-examine witnesses in hearings
  • You can file motions and legal briefs (with the help of an attorney)
  • You can participate in hearings and settlement discussions

But with those rights come real responsibilities. You’re expected to:

  • Follow procedural rules and deadlines
  • Respond to discovery requests
  • Stay engaged throughout the proceeding
  • Represent your interest clearly and respectfully

Know Your Role, Own Your Impact

Whether you’re a ratepayer, HOA representative, or municipal advocate, your participation helps ensure that water systems are right-sized, financially sound, and fairly regulated. Your input can challenge flawed assumptions, highlight service issues, and push for transparency.

To fully understand your rights and responsibilities, we encourage you to visit our detailed guide on the Intervenors page. It’s your roadmap for effective engagement.

You’re Not Alone

Fair Water Texas is here to support you every step of the way. From drafting testimony to understanding procedural timelines, we’re building a community of informed, empowered ratepayers who know how to navigate the PUC system—and win.

Welcome aboard. Let’s make water governance fair, together!
