PUC Staff Requests December Start Date for Proposed Rates

The Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) Staff has filed a motion to extend the suspension of Aqua Texas’s proposed rate increases until December 22, 2025. This move comes as part of Docket No. 58124, which has already drawn over 3,500 formal protests and intervention requests from concerned customers.

Originally, Aqua Texas sought to implement new water and sewer rates effective July 25, 2025. That date was first pushed to September 22 by an administrative law judge. Now, Commission Staff is requesting the full 150-day suspension period allowed under Texas law, citing the need for more time to review the rate application and allow meaningful public participation.
